Railing Fences Gates
South Park, Darlington
The ornate gates at the main entrance to South Park in Darlington were recreated by Lost Art Limited. This was based on historic documentation as the original gates had mysteriously disappeared.
Further gates were also reproduced or repaired as part of the work, which also included the repair and replacement of several hundred metres of historic and decorative cast and wrought iron railings, with the gates often containing features that were then replicated in the adjacent railings.
As a new vehicle entrance was required, Lost Art were also asked to design, produce and install gates that included features of the adjacent railings that featured a distinctive scroll element. The following images show the scene before and after the completion of the commission.
